Dean Lennox Kelly Redux

Sometimes a banana is just a really hairy-chested banana.

Meeting Russel Tovey last month at Megacon stoked my interest in watching the BBC series Being Human from the beginning. Into the second episode of the first series, I spotted a familiar face and chest. Lo and behold, the hairy Mr. Dean Lennox Kelly graced my screen as Tully the werewolf. Talk about perfect casting!

Waaaay back in 2007, I called Kelly the "sexiest Shakespeare yet."

In Being Human, Tully is the werewolf who inflicted lycanthropy on Tovey's pitiable George. George doesn't know this fact as Tully mentors him and teaches him how to make the most out of his "condition." I have to say, the scene where Tully embraces George piqued more than my interest. The werewolf thing seemed less like a curse for those few seconds. The final scene of that episode, wherein Tully awakens naked in the woods, left me speechless.

So once again, I endorse Dean Lennox Kelly as the Sexiest Shakespearean Shape Shifter ever!

Oh, and Being Human has lots of scenes of Russel Tovey in his birthday suit. FTW.

Spring Has Sprung (Not Original, But True)

It's official. Spring is here. It must be -- I just finished mowing my lawn.

The apple tree in my yard is in full bloom:

In many ways, it's an odd time for Yours Truly. Work is busy and that's good. The days are warm; the nights are cool-to-cold, and that's fine. But friends continue to challenge my trust. And the relationship I thought had potential turned out to be just another extended liaison.

Speaking of friends, the economy still isn't being kind to mine. Michael, a seasoned architecture designer, is now working as a waiter. Tim, an IT network specialist, is going to school to become a truck driver. Recovery, wherefore art thou?

But hey, Glee is back; so it can't be too bad!
