Almost Summer Catch-up

In no particular order, here are some random thoughts on recent events:

Bear Pride, Chicago, Memorial Day Weekend: BP12 renewed my love of bear runs. I traveled with my friends Duane and Tim, I slept with my friend Denis from St. Petersburg, Russia, I volunteered in registration, I attended events, I met lots of interesting people, I had dinner with my dear friend Tammy and her husband, JR,  the three of us had drinks with (really next to) R. Kelly, I ate Chicago-style deep dish pizza, I went to the IML vendor mart, in toto, I had a freaking blast! Now, I can't wait for next year!!

Prometheus: I went to see Ridley Scott's Alien "prequel" last weekend. It was everything you would want a big budget sci-fi flick to be. It was no Avengers (see below) but I will most likely buy the blu-ray when it is released.

Speaking of The Avengers: Rumor has it Marvel may release an extended, director's cut of the film in August with an addition 30 minutes or so of footage. Having already seen the film 4X (three in 3-D, once in 2-D), I can only say; "BRING IT ON!!!" I will pony up for more Joss, more Hulk, more ChrisSquared.

Oh, To be Young Again: I bought a few packs of Avengers trading cards on a whim. Of course, my compulsive nature almost immediately asserted itself and I had to have the complete base card set. This proved relatively easy to accomplish. But I have been having genuine fun running down some of the various chase cards and costume memorabilia cards. Go figure.

New Favorite K-Cup: Sweet & Creamy Nutty Hazelnut Iced Coffee. It tastes like the McDonald's hazelnut iced coffee. Yum!

Least Favorite Keurig Marketing Ploy: Having penetrated the coffee-drinking market pretty thoroughly, Keurig decided to market a new line of "bigger, better, faster" brewers named Vue which use a new style of k-cup that is, of course, not compatible with the older style brewers. I wonder how long it will be before Green Mountain starts phasing out the current style of k-cup? If they do, they had best pray I can't find the e-mail address for their president.

Latest Internet Obsession: Tumblr. Ye Gods, how many hours have I sacrificed to Tumblr?
