Big Boys Rule Food Network Tuesday Nights!

Tuesday night summer TV is usually a bland choice of reruns or The Real World. But Food Network has schedule a block of programming featuring two of the cutest husky men to grace the tube!

First, at 10:00 Paula Deen's sons have a show called "Road Tasted" that has them sampling restaurant and retail cuisine from all over the country. Oldest brother Jamie is a delight -- all Southern blue-eyed charm and soul patch and unbelievable dimples. Younger brother Bobby, the shorter, less husky bro, is also handsome, but Jamie is too cute for words.

Then at 10:30 Ham on the Street is back for another season with hunky George Duran, who I discussed in a previous blog. He back, he's Venezuelan, he has that delicious little tuft of fur that sticks above his shirt collar and he's a big boy. Yowsa!
Work it, George!

To paraphrase Scarlett O'Hara, "With Food Network, I shall never go hungry (for Beautiful Big Boys) again!"

KEVIN SMITH... IN AKRON... NEWS @ 11:00!!!

So today, I got my new parking pass and schedule for ushering at E.J. Thomas Performaing Arts Hall. I've been a substitute usher at the hall for a couple of years now, although I really haven't done that many shows.

I'm scanning the schedule, looking for shows I might be interested in seeing ("Man of La Mancha... cool, Rent... awesome...") and then look at the last minute notes and see a notice that the report time for the Kevin Smith Forum is different from that listed in the schedule.

Waitaminit... Kevin Smith? My Kevin Smith? Can't be...

Fingers trembling, I flip back through the schedule, reading it with renewed vigor. Lo and behold, there he was, "UA Forum: Kevin Smith, Director" on Friday, March 2, 2007. Kevin Smith, "Silent Bob," coming to my city in a mere seven months.

I don't remember the last time the work "glee" actually applied to me.

So much to do in only seven months. Call everyone I know. E-mail everyone else. Post the news on the VA web board. Fantasize nasty, erotic things about Kevin naked.

Okay, I'd do that last thing regardless of him coming to The Rubber City.

Geez, why am I still typing here? I have things to do!

Wizard World Recap

The Wizard World comic convention in Chicago was a blast! Not only did I get to spend the weekend with Tammy, one of my favorite sapiens on the planet, I got to:

* See my favorite writer/director/actor, Kevin Smith, and give him the Happy Birthday giant chocolate chip cookie I brought. (Carrying this through the con Saturday afternoon resulted in numerous offers of comics, cash and sexual favors when people thought it was pizza. Upon learning it was a giant cookie, the offers got even more interesting.)

* Spend time Renfest Karla and other VA "boardies." I also got to meet Kevin's brother, Don.

* Fill the holes in my comic collection that crept in since the last con I attended in 2004. Tammy described searching through the many, many long boxes as "hunting for treasure."

* Seeing Tom Jane, Noell Neill, Priscilla Barnes, Joyce DeWitt and Lou Ferrigno. Somehow, I completely missed Kristen Bell.

* Meeting Rick Goldschmidt, the official historian of Rankin-Bass. I've enjoyed his books for years. I purchased a DVD of the R-B animated version of "Return to Oz," that Rick had paired with an animation cell. You should check out his website, The Enchanted World of Rankin-Bass.

*Dinners at a really terrific Japanese restaurant (awesome sushi and sashimi!) and the always-delectable Gino's East.

The drive to and from Chicago was uneventful, even pleasant, thanks to my Big Finish Doctor Who CD's.

I love Chicago!
