Summertime and the Livin' is Cheesy...

... Sorry, I couldn't stop myself from using the cliche' title.

But it's true. We all survived 6/6/06, disappointing as that may be for some. (Curse you, apocalyptic numerologists!) Summer officially started this week, albeit with a stormy entrance.

But it is a temperate Saturday evening and I am typing this from my patio, wireless router humming away indoors, folk music playing on my local public radio station, WKSU, a glass of blueberry port at hand. What could be better?

Okay, sharing it with someone special.

Nope, won't let anything get me down this evening. I talked to Lisandro for a bit today and he sounds fine. I made myself a nice tuna casserole for dinner and watched Rent again while I ate.

(Damn, that's a fine movie. Jesse L. Martin still makes me all happy inside.)

The evening is cooling off without getting chill enough to merit changing into long pants. Jake and I have been playing "fetch" with his favorite blue ball. Mosquito annoyance is minimal.

Life is good.

Thanks,life!

End of the World As We Know It?

I feel fine.

But just in case the apocalyptic numerologists are right and tomorrow (6/6/6) sees the end of the world, I wanted to get the last word on some things.

Bush sucks.

War is not healthy for children and other living things.

My job sucks.

Brokeback Mountain deserved the Best Picture Academy Award, Heath Ledger deserved Best Actor and Jake Gyllenhaal deserved Best Supporting Actor. No, I won't let it go.

Tattoos are really hot on some people, not so much on others. And even on the hot ones, moderation and artistic expression should be defining limitations.

The so-called "gay sub-culture" and alleged "bear community" punish non-conformity just like the rest of the world. Stop pretending otherwise.

Kevin "Silent Bob" Smith is hot AND brilliant. And hot. Did I mention hot?

I still like The Carpenters, ABBA, ELO, Olivia Newton-John, The Captain & Tennille, Journey, Styx, Billy Joel and Barry Manilow.

There is probably more, but as last words go, those are a not a bad start.

See ya in the afterlife...
