In Xanadu did Kula Khan...
... a stately pleasure-dome decree.
Friday I went to see the stage musical Xanadu in Cleveland. Interesting, in a campy, over-the-top way. I think my friend Missie found it a little too camp, what with the drag queen muses and 80's short-shorts. Personally, I believe it can never be too over the top. I enjoyed all the little theater in-jokes and faux Aussie accents. Plus, the leads were nice to look at, the songs were familiar and it was all done in one act. Ninety minutes, in and out and back to Bricco for martinis. Twas a pity the actors didn't show up at the restaurant as the cast from In the Heights had just a few weeks earlier. I think the Xanadu folks would have been fun to meet.
When you live in a cold climate, the least little bit of warmth, the tiniest drop of sunshine makes you all crazy. It was that kind of weekend. Days in the high 40's/low 50's and nights in the teens. Freeze. Thaw. Rinse. Repeat.
Saturday I dallied with a couple of my regulars. That's always fun. Sunday I had brunch with my friend Sara at the restaurant where my other friend Michael is waiting tables. It was so warm, I washed my Explorer and saw up close what all the salt was doing to it. Keep in mind, the poor beast is 13 years old already.
In a couple of days I leave for Orlando and an extra-long weekend with VA Boardies. I can't wait! Megacon and Disney, here I come!
